The California African American Museum (CAAM) seeks a Staff Services Manager (SSMI) to fill the role of Fiscal Officer. The incumbent will report directly to the Executive Director. The role is pivotal in managing, supporting and improving the museum's comprehensive financial strategies. Responsibilities focus on accounting operations, business services, budget management, regulatory compliance and various reporting. The incumbent is responsible for fiduciary responsibilities around vendor contracts, fiscal budget management, policy Implementation and fiscal strategies in line with California State Guidelines over procurement and request for proposals (RFP).

CAAM is a small department located in Los Angeles, south of Downtown Los Angeles within Exposition Park. This position is full-time permanent. CAAM is open to the public Monday through Friday, from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, except Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's day. A hybrid and/or flexible work schedule is negotiable once incumbent is fully on boarded.

Special Requirements

The selected candidate will be required to submit to pre-employment hiring clearances which include the following: Department of Justice Livescan fingerprint and medical testing for tuberculosis, within three business days of receipt of a conditional offer of employment.

Desirable Qualifications

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:


* Master's Degree or Bachelor's degree in accounting or business preferred

* 5-10 years of progressive experience in financial management, accounting, or a related field, preferably within a public sector or non-profit organization.

* Demonstrated experience with budget management, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance.

* Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA), or similar certifications would be highly beneficial.

* Experience in managing vendor contracts and familiarity with procurement and RFP processes as per state guidelines.

* Demonstrated ability to apply and interpret policies, regulations, and laws.

* Ability to use tact and good judgment when communicating with customers, co-workers, management, and other government agency representatives.

* Experience working in a fast-paced environment with constantly changing requirements.

* Strong computer skills and experience with the Microsoft Office suite and fiscal software programs.
