Unemployment Insurance Quality Control Auditor Location Juneau, AK : ATTENTION ALASKA RESIDENTS! The Department of Labor and Workforce Development, Division of Employment and Training Services, is recruiting for an Unemployment Insurance Quality Control Auditor located in Juneau! What You Will Be Doing: Audit randomly selected unemployment insurance claims to verify accuracy of paid and denied claims statewide. Accomplished by independently planning and conducting investigations including interviews with employers, claimants, officials, agency staff and interested third parties. Our Organization, Mission and Culture: Identify Unemployment Insurance (UI) program weaknesses to facilitate improvement in the administration of the UI program. Audits are monitored by the federal government and can result in statewide corrective action plans. Assists in maintaining integrity within the UI program. You will be working independently within the unit but will be welcome to ask questions. You will be asked to participate in a group discussion on changes to existing procedures. This position has potential for teleworking and alternate work week schedules after 6 months to 1 year and meeting training goals. There is also potential to travel, representing Alaska during federal reviews. The Working Environment You Can Expect: The work environment is professional but fun and you will be working downtown by the bridge with plenty of parking and beautiful views of the whale and channel. This unit is spread across Juneau, Fairbanks, and Anchorage with a total of 8 auditors. In the office, you will have the ability to collaborate with other local staff and the remainder via TEAMS. Quality Control (QC) auditors are knowledgeable, passionate, and kind. Who We Are Looking For:
  • Ability to obtain information in Unemployment Insurance (UI) claims processing.
  • Ability to write clear and concise reports concerning decisions and the history of the investigation.
  • Demonstrated in-depth knowledge and interpretation of UI program laws, rules, policies and procedures.
  • Experience meeting state and federal performance measures.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Minimum Qualifications

High school graduation or the equivalent. AND One year of experience in unemployment insurance claims processing or related work in unemployment insurance programs, which must have demonstrated competency in unemployment insurance adjudications. This experience is equivalent to an Unemployment Insurance Technician 1 with the State of Alaska or elsewhere. Other combinations of training and experience will be considered on an individual basis for comparability. Must possess a valid Alaska driver's license.
